Family Dance Febrary 21st

It's time for our annual February Family Dance!!  We are looking for people who want to help plan & put on this super fun activity.
Joni Luke has agreed to chair the dance, and her awesome husband will be the DJ again!  Here's a note from her:

Hello everyone,

I am looking for volunteers to help on the committee for the school dance this year. You will help with decorations, refreshments, set up, take down, collecting prizes, etc. If you cannot help the day of, we can still use the help before hand getting decorations etc.

Please contact me if you are able to help in any way! Thank you!

Joni Luke

Fundraiser 2014!!

2014 PTA Fundraiser
It is time for our annual PTA fundraiser!!!
This year we are offering 2 options for our fundraiser:
Option 1:
Valentine’s Day chocolate by Bella Rose Confections. YUMMY!!! This option is a great way to get some Valentine’s Day goodies for your loved ones (and maybe some for yourself tooJ) and support our school and a fantastic local business.

A flyer with a selection of items was sent home & was attached to the email sent out to parents. Please look at the selection of items. Once you have made your choices on Valentine’s chocolates to order (not an easy task J), please fill out the order form. If you wish to have your child bring the filled order home, you MUST fill out the parent waiver. No orders will be sent home with students unless the waiver is signed!!! Please put the order form, waiver (if applicable), and payment in the form of cash or check (made out to Sage Hills PTA) into the provided envelope and return to the school BY TUESDAY, JANUARY 21st!!! There will be no refunds or exchanges after Tuesday January 21st. Envelopes can be turned in at the office, or to your child’s teacher.
***Pick up of orders will be at the school on Monday, February 10th and Tuesday February 11th. We will have a table outside the cafeteria with your order ready to pick up. Pick up times are; Monday and Tuesday morning from 7:30am-9:30am. Monday afternoon from 1:00pm-3:00pm and Tuesday afternoon from 2:00pm-4:00pm. Remember, if you want your child to bring your order home, you MUST sign the parent waiver!
As an incentive, any student who sells 3 items will get to choose a prize. Either a smencil OR a spirit stick. Any student who sells 5 items or more will get BOTH!!!
(Bella Rose will be donating 40% of the sales to our PTA, which directly benefits the school and school activities!!!)

Option 2:
Direct donation. We are offering this second option for those who still want to help the PTA help the school, but may not want to place a chocolate order. Please donate any amount you see fit to donate in the form of cash or check (made out to Sage Hills PTA) and seal it in the provided envelope. Please put your child’s name, grade, and teacher on the envelope. Envelopes can be turned in to the office or to the student’s teacher. All envelopes are due back at school by Tuesday January 21st.
As an incentive students who donate $10 will get to choose a prize. Either a smencil OR a spirit stick. $20 or more will get them BOTH!!!
*please note; donations are allowed at any time to the PTA, but we’d like to get as many as possible during our fundraiser week, so we have a better idea what activities and programs we can do for next year. So, if you choose to donate, please take this timeframe to do so. Thank you

FAQ: Why does the PTA need a fundraiser? PTA is not given a budget from the national PTA to use how we see fit; we are responsible for raising our own funds. We are allowed 1 fundraiser every year to pay for the following year’s activities. Many parents are under the assumption that Hogwarts is the fundraiser. We apologize for not being clearer on that matter. This year Hogwarts night was not the fundraiser. Hogwarts funds are used to pay for Hogwarts the following year, and we are using the extra money made from Hogwarts this year to directly benefit the school with needed items that will be owned by the school PTA and loaned to the school for their use and benefit. PTA funds made through the fundraiser pay in part, or in full, for many things. Such as take home reading library, paper, books, educational kits, teacher appreciation supplies, choir, school plays, and after school programs.  We have had many fantastic parent suggestions on activities and programs we really want to introduce for the 2014-2015 school year, and it is our responsibility to pay for them. The state does not pay for our extra-curricular activities; these are the responsibility of the PTA.
Why do a fundraiser, and not just ask for donations? We could just ask for donations, but we are all part of a community, not just a school, and as a PTA we decided this year to support one of our community businesses!!!
We hope this answers some of the questions we as parents may have. If you have any other questions concerning PTA funds or how they are distributed, you are always welcome to come to the PTA meetings, or email the board directly at sagehillspta@gmail.com
