SpellCheck 2012

Sage Hills Parents-

This year our School & PTA will participate in The 2nd Annual Sage Hills SpellCheck, a program that addresses many objections out there about traditional fundraisers.

Here is how it works: Your student collects pledges from Friends, Family & Neighbors for every word they get right on the Spellcheck Test.  Your student studies the supplied Spelling List and takes the Test on March 9th.  Your child improves their spelling skills and our PTA Programs enjoy the benefit!

Our Goal is to raise $4000 for 2012-2013 PTA Activities & Events, such as Hogwarts, Polar Express Night, Dr Seuss, Family Valentines Dance, Patriotic & Ribbon Weeks, & more!
(Last year we were able to earn $2500 with spellcheck and $700 from the Festival)

Here is the Time Line for our SpellCheck:
Today February 27th: Students begin studying words on their Spellcheck list.  Also, this week students collect pledged from family and friends.

by March 2nd  – Students return Pledge sheets to their Teacher.
(Teachers Submit a count of students that have earned a smencil)

March 9th  – Teacher will give SpellCheck Test, unless Teacher indicates a different date.  By the 9th your student should bring home their spellcheck test, and their pledge sheet to begin collecting their pledges.

by March 16th – collect and return your pledge monies to the School or your Teacher.

**please write checks to Sage Hills PTA**

Thank You so much for your support, the Spell Check last year was a success we look forward to another great success this year.

thanks!

The Facts about Fundraising

There has been some confusion out there and so I just want to clarify a few things:

Yes while the School and the PTA work closely together and assist each other as much as we can our finances are very separate.

The School Fundraisers are: Entertainment Books (District), Sally Foster/Wrapping Paper, Lehi Roller Mills & Cookie Dough. These funds have been used to buy books for the take home reading library, other needed supplies at the school & to purchase a Marquee for the front of the school.

The PTA did a Festival the first year the school opened, and less successfully again this fall, as this years festival didn't make enough to run the PTA next year we did spellcheck and that was great and so we are planning for that to be our only fundraiser next year.

What happens to the PTA's fundraiser funds? They are used to put on Activities such as Polar Express, Red & Purple Ribbon Week, Staff Appreciation Week, etc. But our main purpose in the school is not to raise funds but to help find and coordinate volunteers to help in the classroom, exchange Take Home Reading Books, help at the Book Fair, make copies, etc.
