Many of you are familiar with
Battle of the Books from experiencing it for the
first time this year. It was so much
fun that we are doing it again this next school
year. Included is
a list of the books. They are
grouped by grade.
A recap on what Battle of the Books is: students will get
into teams and read the books on their grade level list. They will have
from now until March to read. Then in March we will hold
"battles" where teams compete against each other in a game style
fashion and are asked questions about the books. Points are given for
correct title and correct author. (Author's last name is acceptable.)
I won't have copies available until the new school year.
However, reading in the summer counts towards next school year's Battle
of the Books. So let's get started!! Remember that you can read a
book, have someone read it to you, listen to it on CD or Tape. It doesn't
matter where you get the book from - a library, a neighbor, a store, just get a
hold of it and read. Please do not use YouTube as a source. Some of
the reading on YouTube is not complete and you will miss part of the book.
Don't worry about not being on a team yet and what books to
read. Just read whatever you like and when you get on a team you will
have an advantage - there will be more than one person on that team who has
read the book. Please call or email me if you have any questions. Thanks!
