Still searching for a President Elect!!

Dear Friends,

A year ago we moved here & I began this awesome journey as the PTA president.  When I volunteered last January I was terrified. I’m the gal who would pay my money to join PTA & sign up at back to school night, but I avoided all meetings like the plague and when they called me to help, I would more often be too busy to help.  I did have little ones at home back then, so this time, when the note came home saying that if someone didn’t volunteer the PTA would be abolished, I decided that this was my year.  I wasn’t pregnant or nursing & I had 3 at Sage Hills & only one at home. 

I can’t tell you how glad I am that I accepted the opportunity to serve as the President.  I have had the chance to make friends I wouldn’t have otherwise.  I have fallen in love with the faculty & staff at Sage Hills and it’s been a grand adventure!!  It has been time consuming at times, but there have been so many amazing people willing to help that leading hasn’t been nearly as hard as I thought it might be.

So why am I not jumping at the chance to do it again? I’ve thought about it and it’s not my year to be President again.  I’m still planning on being involved, and hope to help the next President, but my oldest is in 6^th grade & next year I need to split my time between her new school & Sage Hills.  In addition I’m becoming more involved in helping my husband build his business.   

You might wonder why am I sharing all this?  Well, the note is about to go home again saying that we need a President for next year and if we don’t have anyone step up, there will not be a PTA at Sage Hills Elementary.  That means no one to organize volunteers for vision & hearing screenings, no one to organize & change out take home reading books, no class parties and no after school activities, just to name a few of the many things parents do to help in the school.  Every interaction between students, teachers & parents is supported by and linked to the PTA.  I just can’t imagine the school without it. 

So here is the plea, we need someone to step up! A commitment now means that you’ll need to give a little time now to help us plan next year and get a feel of how things are run, but it won’t require a lot of time.  I know there is someone out there who has perhaps avoided getting involved as much as I did, or used to be involved and took a break, or is ready for a more leading role, someone who can look at their life and say, “this is my year”.

THIS IS THE BEST ACTIVITY OF THE YEAR & I AM SO EXCITED THAT IT'S FINALLY HERE!!! 
 Everyone is invited, just tell them you're with Sage Hills PTA.  You don't have to be a PTA member, you can even bring family or friends that don't go to our school!  You can bring skates, blades, scooters, even strollers for the little ones.  Free admission all night & discounts on food & other activities. PLAY REHEARSAL UPDATE WITH CHANGES!!!

Good morning everyone. We have realized that the schedule that was sent out is very confusing and difficult to understand.
Part of the confusion is that we didn't explain that there are 3 different casts we are working with.  There are 2 casts of 3-6th graders called the Ham cast  & the Green Eggs Cast.  In general the Green Eggs Cast practices Mon 2:40-4:00pm & Tues from 3:30-5:00pm and the Ham cast practices Mon 3:40-5:00pm & Wed 3:30-5:00pm.  There is a 20 min overlap of the two casts on Monday! However, some days will only require certain groups.  The different groups are the following: Horton, Jojo, Cat, Mazie, Gertrude, Kangaroos, Wicks (short for Wickershams), Bird Girls, Jungle animals, Mr. & Mrs. Mayor, the Whos & then the full cast. Your child should know what part they have.  (Yertle comes with Wickershams, and Vlad comes with jungle animals.) We will also be choosing a Grinch from among the whos, some fish who will be dancers from the jungle animals, and some circus animals from the jungle animals as well.
I hope that clarifies some of what we are doing.  We have typed up the lyrics to all of the songs and we will post that link later today, after putting the songs into categories of which songs are sung by each group.  I hope this will help!!

Now, for the schedule, WE ARE MAKING A NEW SCHEDULE THAT WILL HAVE CHANGES SO THROW AWAY THE ONE YOU GOT YESTERDAY!!!!For this week, the only students we need at rehearsals at 3:30pm are Horton, Jojo, The Cat, Gertrude & Mazie.
Then at 4:20-5:00pm we need the Bird Girls & Mr. & Mrs. Mayor as well.
Everyone else in the main production has a break from practice.

One final note, some of you may have kids in the production that are K-2 grade.  These students are performing the show opener and are in the Sam I Am Choir.  They will rehearse TUESDAYS ONLY for 45 min directly after school.  So 2:15-3:00pm for A track & 3:30-4:15 for B track.
They are practicing as tracks, but will be divided for the performances according to family & will be with their siblings then.  More information will come on that as we go along.

Thank you for your patience with us as we work this all out.  We are all volunteers and are doing the best we can.  If anyone wants to join our production team, we would love help!!
